Welcome to New Media Mania 2010 This course is about teaching and learning in a social computer environment. During this class you will get your hands on many new technologies. You will be asked to apply that technology in both a practical and professionally meaningful manner. You will also have the opportunity to make personal choices about what you want to learn. You will also participate in one group activity that focuses on the student-learner in your classroom. This learner centered, constructivist approach is designed to help you build learning experiences that meet the needs of our 21st century students.
We are all interested in teaching and learning. Our diversity of interests, backgrounds and passions will help us use communications technology to address the skill demands that are changing for our students. In order to succeed in the workplace, jobs, or a 4-year college or trade school, 21st century skills are required in order to succeed in work, in life, and in our new global economy. The use of New Media Tools that focus on collaboration and communication along with the correct learning theories such as project-based learning, will help students acquire the abilities they need for the future.
Let’s get started! Click on our Introduction to New Media Mania to see what we will be doing today and for the remainder of the week.
